The skatepark in Langebaan has finally been turned into a youth facility, now you have boys and girls on J-boards and scooters; riding pointlessly around and sitting on obstacles. The whole family spends the day at the park and the place turns into an amusement park, something similar to Sunny Park, which has a waterslide and a put- put course, in Langebaan. I will advise you to go on a weekday and preferably not in the vacation if you want a good session at the park.
We usually camp at Oostewal, but due to the weather we searched for an alternative, affordable accommodation. We decided to stay at Lagoon Sports, having no idea where it was situated, we were pleasantly surprised that Lagoon Sports is on the main beach and in walking distance of the skatepark and a bar. Lagoon sports has a backpackers feel and it is always nice to interact with tourist/travelers. The Jacuzzi and braai area at Lagoon Sports made the stay even more soothing.
I suggest staying at Lagoon Sports for a night and exploring the West Coast, a less travelled part of South Africa’s coast that holds a lot of surprises; a unique environment and culture, explore the humble architecture of the coastal towns. We are busy editing some footage of a West Coast road trip, so keep your eyes open for the release of the edit on the blog. ▲
